UV Scientific calculation. Current systems.

The Universitat de València provides all its researchers with computing resources designed for scientific computing. These systems are specifically installed and configured for the execution of numerical simulations. In addition, users receive the necessary support to facilitate their use. At present, the system deployed for these purposes is called LluisVives. In its second version (installed in July 2018), it includes several partitions:

• MPI computing partition: thin (150 nodes).

• Shared-memory computing partition: fat (7 nodes).

• GPU computing partition: hopper (3 nodes).

• A shared storage system based on Lustre, with a total capacity of 346 TB.

• 100 Gbps InfiniBand EDR interconnection network with a 2:1 fat-tree topology.

This UV computing system is the result of collaboration between the Universitat de València and several research groups sharing common interests in scientific computing. This collaboration was made possible through funding for scientific and technical infrastructure and equipment under the National Scientific and Technical Infrastructure and Equipment Programme, co-funded by the FEDER Smart Growth Operational Programme 2014-2020 and managed by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. Subsequently, LluisVives-2 was expanded through several infrastructure grants from the Generalitat Valenciana and eventually became part of the RES-UV node of the Spanish Supercomputing Network (ICTS RES). At the time of writing this document, the installation of LV-3 is being prepared. This upgrade will involve a complete refresh of the cluster software stack and the deployment of new hardware for the MPI partition, significantly increasing the overall computing power of the cluster.
